history

50th AnniversarySUTTON… since 1960

SUTTON is the tale of a remarkable family that was, and continues to be, a driving force in the development of an entire region of Quebec.

InaugurationThe Boulanger family moved to Sutton in 1945. A trained administrator working in the dairy industry, Harold Boulanger decided to found Sutton Dairy Products with two partners, Charles Dionne and Albert Deslauriers. A key enterprise until 1980, that specialized in the production of butter, skim milk powder, protein and pasteurized chocolate milk.

Sutton Dairy Products was typically very active for four to five months during the summer, but in the winter, was forced to lay off employees. This situation led the owners to begin thinking about a business that would keep their personnel busy during the winter months. At that time, people were wilderness skiing at Sutton, more specifically on the North face of Mohawk Lake, the mountain next to the actual resort. During the winter of 1946, the young Boulanger began their love affair with the sport of downhill skiing.

PROMOTIONAL IMAGES...

LIKE NOWHERE ELSE!

Like nowhere else! The 2006-2007 advertising campaign was inspired by SUTTON’s own skiers and boarders, all of whom said, in one way or another: “SUTTON is like nowhere else!” Truly stimulating, the mountain promises adventure and relaxation in equal measure. Several assets stand out and set SUTTON apart: the authentic natural setting that beckons skiers and boarders from the moment they arrive; the unique snowfalls that are the product of a special microclimate; and the renowned glades that are famous throughout Eastern North America. These attributes make SUTTON a destination like nowhere else!

The three principal images of the campaign, inspired by the glory years, reflect the true nature of SUTTON: the young woman rising to the challenge of the glades, the avid skier in powder, and the couple enjoying the view and bucolic beauty of the mountain chalets.

Since the two last years, the campaign is inspired by photos sent by customers of Mont SUTTON. With the contest “My inspiring moments”, new images were added to the promotional images of Mont SUTTON. Here are the thematic of the photos selected for the 2009-2010 season : the pleasure of being with your family on the Mont SUTTON’s trails and take time to laugh with friends or with your family members on a terrace to enjoy a beautiful day and the view at the foot of the mountain. As promised, we designed two new illustrations using the selected photos as inspiration for the 2009-2010 campaign. View here the new illustrations and the “making of”.

There is so much more to say about the images and their parallel with the spirit of the mountain…
